James Bickley Biography

James Bickley graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a Degree in Sports Coaching and has been a keen sportsman all his life, competing at county, national and international level in Swimming, Athletics and Biathlon. His expertise and passion for sports and fitness has led to a dedicated career in sports coaching, personal training, group classes and one-to-one tuition for all ages.

James began his coaching experience with the internationally renowned Athletics Club, Tipton Harriers, and is a nationally qualified Level 2 UK Athletics Endurance Coach and Level 2 Gym Instructor. He has also previously worked for Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club at Academy level, developing a breadth of knowledge in professional sports coaching

After graduating from University in 2009, James started his coaching business and has trained a wide range of clients, from amateur athletes seeking to train for a 10k run or marathon, to young runners and football players seeking to correct their technique and improve fitness levels in order to progress into professional sports careers.

James can provide bespoke running and fitness programmes which offer a high-level of customer service and care to help clients meet their own personal goals, whether you are a beginner or at an advanced level. This is ideal for the amateur athlete requiring personal coaching for a 5k run or a former athlete who wants to get back into fitness after a long period out. James can also provide support for those who have sustained an injury and wish to get back into training.

James has worked with schools since 2011, providing a range of services including morning classes, lunchtime activities, after school clubs and sports days. James has worked with children from disadvantaged backgrounds and children who require specialist help. Sports offers opportunities and a sense of achievement and helps provide children with focus and determination, particularly for children from disadvantaged backgrounds who have limited resources. In 2018, James coached the winning team in their division in the Dudley Schools Football League.

Alongside his work with children, James has provided exercise classes for the elderly for the past decade. He works with over 20 care homes in the West Midlands region. These classes are open to any age, gender, ability or disability, and provide an energetic range of exercises that each resident can complete at their own pace and participate as much as they wish to. Classes focus on developing mobility, flexibility, strength, conditioning, group work and self-confidence. James’s friendly and enthusiastic personality helps to motivate the residents and encourage each individual to participate in his classes. James also provides one-to-one tuition with elderly clients seeking to maintain their independence and improve their fitness and general well-being.
